Ms. Shimansky moved to Keego Harbor in 2011.  Her desire to live in Keego stemmed from her long history of coming to the area to enjoy the lakes.  During the 1980s she spent her summers enjoying Cass Lake and her fond memories are what spurred her to look for a home here.
Theresa started her service to Keego Harbor in 2016 when she was appointed to the Planning Commission where she served for two and a half years.  During her last year on the Planning Commission she was honored to serve as the vice-chairman.  In 2018 Theresa decided that she could be more effective serving on City Council, ran for office and was elected that year. She began her term on City Council in November 2018. As a council woman she represents the council as their liaison to the Zoning Board of Appeals and is on the steering committee for the Gibbs Planning Group TIFA district study.

Hey Theresa What

do you like about  KEEGO HARBOR?

“What makes Keego Harbor so special is the warm small town feel.  This is the type of town where if you are walking down the street everyone you pass says hello and greets you with a smile.”

“I believe an elected official should view themself as if they have been hired by their constituents to carry out the will of the community.  As such, my goals have always been to listen residents, understand their needs, and make decisions based on those needs in combination with maintaining the necessary services and a balanced budget.  I also strive to maintain the warm and inviting small town feel that brought me to Keego Harbor.”
